Sprints in Timebook

A Sprint is a Timebook's way of presenting the flow and progression of work. You can use Sprints to manage complex projects with less effort. You can enable Sprints for each Team, and we will create them automatically per your instructions.

In short, Sprints are automatized cycles in which a Team tackles sets of .

This tab gives you a combined view of all Sprints in a Team.

But we also have an article that explains the actual Sprint concept and how to apply it in Timebook. For more information, see Sprint

Sprints tab features

The primary function of this tab is to show you the overview of all Sprints across your Team. We give you all Sprint-related data, and you can do the following:

  • Use the [Go to Sprint] button on the right to see the details of a Sprint and the Work Items it contains.

  • Use the [Plan Sprints] button on the right to start moving work between your backlog and selected Sprints.

  • Use filters to decide how much data you want to see.

  • Use different grouping options to organize the data.

  • Save custom views for later use.

We have dedicated articles that explain how to manage data views in several Timebook modules. For more information, see Views & layouts

To see Sprint-related data in this tab, you must first enable Sprints in this Team.

For more information on enabling Sprints, see Work settings in Team

Create a Sprint

Timebook creates Sprints automatically for you.

All you need to do is go to the Team's settings, select [Sprints], press the [Turn on Sprints] button, and define your preferences. For more details, see Work settings in Team

With this feature enabled, Timebook automatically generates Sprints based on your selected starting day and cadence.

For example, you might set up Timebook to generate five upcoming Sprints, starting the following Monday and lasting two weeks each.

Plan Sprints

In simple terms, Sprint planning means moving Work Items between your backlog and selected Sprints.

To plan Sprints:

  1. Press the [Plan Sprints] button in the top-right corner.

  2. Notice the [Backlog] pane opening on the left. The backlog is a list of all Work Items in this Team but not currently assigned to any Sprint.

  3. To plan your work, drag a Work Item from the backlog and drop it onto one of the Sprints on the right.

  4. You can also use the drag and drop to move Work Items back to the backlog or between Sprints.

When planning, you can also create new Work Items directly in Sprints instead of moving them from your backlog.

To create a new Work Item in a Sprint, press the [+] button at the bottom of the Sprint's preview window.
