Tagging objects in Timebook

Tags in Timebook are primarily used to mark or classify specific objects. Tagged objects are easier to find, group, or filter. You can create or edit tags in different contexts when managing or .

However, this article focuses on the features of the [Tags] tab in the Workplace Admin. This tab allows you to track and manage all tags used across .

We have a separate article that focuses on how we see the concept of tags and which Timebook objects you can tag. For more information, see Tag concept

Track and manage tags

The middle pane of this tab shows a list of all the tags ever created in your Workplace. You can press on a tag to see its details on the right side of the tab. In large Workplaces, consider using the search bar at the top of the list to find a tag by its name.

The right side of this tab is where you can see the details of each tag and edit them. The following options are available:

  • rename the tag,

  • delete the tag by pressing the [Trash bin] icon,

  • change the tag's background color,

  • check who created the tag,

  • check how many times the tag has been used across this Workplace.

We will remove deleted tags from all objects currently using them, so be careful about deleting other people's tags.

Create tags

You can also use this tab to create tags that all members of the Workplace can then reuse.

To create a tag:

  1. In the [Tags] tab, press the [+] button to the right of the search bar.

  2. Give your new tag a meaningful name, and pick a background color for it.

  3. Press [Add tag] to confirm. Your new tag is now on the list.

  4. Others can now attach this tag to objects across your Workplace.

Creating tags is also possible in other places in Timebook.

Usually, whenever you can add an existing tag, you can also create a new one just by typing a new name and selecting a background color. So the process is nearly identical to the one explained above.
