Inbox (in Teams)

View and manage the work captured from external sources.

Inboxes in Timebook

You can enable Inboxes in your Team to receive work from external apps and communication channels. We will then "translate" the contents of your Team Inboxes into Timebook so that you can manage all your work using one system.

The Inbox feature lets you configure a dedicated email address, create an online form to capture feedback, or connect with external apps. This ensures you can track and manage all Work Items regardless of their source.

To see the [Inbox] tab and use its features, you must first enable Inboxes for your Team.

For more information on Inbox configuration, see Inbox (Team settings)

Inbox tab features

This tab's primary function is to show you all the work captured from external sources. This work can come from emails sent to a dedicated address, forms submitted online, or other apps or communication channels. Your Team Inbox will receive this feedback and translate it into actionable items called tickets.

In the [Inbox] tab, we show you all the ticket data, and you can do the following:

  • Create a new ticket or view details of the existing ones.

  • Use layouts to change the presentation of the data.

  • Use filters to decide how much data you want to see.

  • Use different grouping options to organize the data.

  • Save custom views for later use.

We have dedicated articles that explain how to manage data views and layouts in several Timebook modules, including this one. For more information, see Layouts & views

Create an Inbox ticket

Most of the Inbox tickets will be created automatically based on how you configured the Team Inbox. But you can still create tickets manually in the [Inbox] tab. Manually created tickets can be useful when capturing work from external sources not yet integrated with Timebook.

To create an Inbox ticket:

  1. Press the [+] button at the top of the list of tickets.

  2. Give your new ticket a meaningful name.

  3. Open the newly created ticket to start editing its details. Available options and properties are similar to those in Work Items - for more information, see Work Item
