Learn about different roles in a Timebook Workplace.

Each Timebook user is given a specific role in the context of the to which they belong. The roles describe all the privileges and limitations when using Timebook features.

Timebook users can be assigned to various roles that define their permissions.

The following roles are available in Timebook:

  • The Owner role is given automatically to the person who created a Workplace or a . As the Owner, you can enjoy all the features of your Workplace or Planner.

The scope of the Owner role

As the Owner, you can:

  • have all the privileges of the Member and Admin roles (see below),

  • transfer the ownership of a Workplace or a Planner to someone else and assume the Admin role instead.

  • The Admin role is granted to regular users by other Admins or Owners. As an Admin, you can use most of the features available in the Workplace or Planner.

The scope of the Admin role

As an Admin, you can:

  • have all the privileges of the Member role (see below),

  • access the module and use all its features, except the [Transfer ownership] feature,

  • create new Teams in your Workplace,

  • grant the Admin role to Members,

  • accept or decline Partner invitations made by Workplace Members,

  • access and modify Planner settings (you only need to be a Planner Admin for this, not necessarily a Workplace Admin).

  • The Billing Admin role is also granted to regular users by other Admins or Owners. As a Billing Admin, you can manage invoice details, pricing plans, and other subscription-related details.

As a Billing Admin, you can:

  • have all the privileges of the Member role (see below),

  • access the section of the Workplace Admin module. This allows you to manage invoices, pricing plans, and other subscription-related details.

  • The Member role is given automatically to all the users who joined a Workplace or a Planner. As a Member, you have the standard set of user privileges but also certain limitations.

The scope of the Member role

As a Member, you can:

  • use all the features of the Schedule module,

  • use all the features of the Personal module,

  • join all open Planners and be invited to private ones,

  • invite people from the same Workplace to the Planners you joined or created,

  • invite Partners from other Workplaces to the Planners you created (pending Admin or Owner approval),

  • create and in the Planners you joined,

  • share content (like Pages or files) and reassign Work Items across the Workplace.

  • The Partner role is reserved for Timebook users from other Workplaces explicitly invited to collaborate within one Planner.

The scope of the Partner role

As a Partner, you can:

  • have the privileges of the Member role but only for a selected Planner in another Workplace.

When a Partner is invited to a Planner, their role is further defined by selecting specific permissions. You must select the [Can view], [Can edit], or [Can edit & invite] permissions when inviting a Partner to a Planner. For more details, see Partners

This article describes user roles. However, in specific contexts (especially when sharing Pages or files in Timebook), you can find references to "permissions".

Permissions are usually related to how users should interact with the objects you share with them. The examples include [Can view], [Can edit], or [Can edit & invite].
