Item library

Customize your Work Items to match the work style of your organization.

One of Timebook's goals is to give you a platform to manage your work in a truly agile way. This means you can define and customize all your and types. Pick the names and icons that are most meaningful to your organization. Then select or create properties associated with each type.

With Timebook, you can work with the default system item types. This means using the well-known concepts of tasks, stories, or epics. But you can also use the Workplace Admin to create new item types or modify the existing ones.

The item library has a middle pane with two sections: one for Work Items and the other for Goals. However, you can manage both in a nearly identical way.

Therefore, the step-by-step guides below about editing and creating item types can be applied to both Work Items and Goals.

Edit an item type
  1. Select one of the existing item types in the middle pane.

  2. Rename, add a description, or change the icon of the selected type.

  3. Press on any of the fields to edit their values, names, or descriptions. Timebook system fields, marked with the lock icon, can't be edited.

  4. You can add new fields to an existing item type. Press [Add field] and select the fields you want to add.

  5. You can also drag and drop fields across the list. The order of fields is reflected on item cards, so place the most important fields at the top.

  6. Press [Save] to confirm the changes.

After you edit an item type, the appearance of all items of this type already in the system will be updated accordingly.
